ABOUT STEFANIE MAEGAN

Stefanie Maegan was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, by two immigrant parents from the Philippines. While she's often mistaken for being Mexican, Stefanie proudly embraces her unique background as Filipino and Lebanese-American. Her father, born in the Philippines, is of Lebanese descent and given how much Filipinos and Hispanics share culturally (and because, let’s be real, we’re all brown anyway), she’s learned to just roll with it.
Stefanie was diagnosed with ADHD in her 30s, a revelation that helped her make sense of the academic struggles she faced growing up. Though school was never easy due to being undiagnosed, she always found herself immersed in hyperfixations that would later become her superpowers. From a young age, she was captivated by her family’s video camera, constantly documenting her life, and directing homemade music videos and movies with her siblings and friends. Little did she know, those childhood passions would lay the foundation for the career she has today.
She studied Visual Communications at FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising), originally setting out to make her mark in the fashion world. But while working in the industry, she launched her podcast, BROKE GIRL THERAPY, a raw, honest space to talk about dating, sex, and relationships. It didn’t take long for her to realize that fashion wasn’t her true calling…podcasting and content creation was.
With no formal training, no industry connections, and barely any money in her account, Stefanie taught herself how to produce her own show. Fast forward to today: she’s built a loyal audience, monetized her platform, and turned BROKE GIRL THERAPY into a brand. On top of that, she now uses the skills she’s mastered over the last decade to help bigger names and brands grow their social media presence and achieve viral success.
